(NewYork) At least 13 people were injured in a rush hour shooting at an underpass station in Brooklyn Borough, New York, on Tuesday.
As per Authorities "several unexploded ordnance" were found in the chaos.
Outside the subway station, street ambulances lined up on 36th Street, where a New York police spokesman told AFP officers answered a call from 911 at 1227 GMT (8:27 am).
Unconfirmed video footage posted on Instagram shows passengers leaning against the bloody victims lying on the platform of the smoky station. Pictures show subway crews grazing frightened passengers, some still holding cups of their morning coffee, off the platform and in the bogies of a stationary train. A sign of 36th Street can be seen in the background.
An unidentified man can be heard saying that the train car caught fire, and he saw "at least eight people" being shot.
New York City has seen an increase in shootings this year, and the rise in violent gun crime has been a major focus for Mayor Eric Adams since he took office in January. As of April 3, the number of shootings had risen from 260 to 296 during the same period last year, according to police figures.
Probably this incident comes just days after US President Joe Biden announced new gun control measures, including increasing restrictions on so-called "ghost guns", the hardest weapons to detect that are stored at home.
