On Tuesday, the
Anti-Terrorism Court granted an extension of interim bail for Imran Khan, the
former Prime Minister and Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, in a case for
violating Section 144, as reported by a private TV channel.
During the
hearing, Imran Khan's counsel Babar Awan informed the court that the former
Prime Minister was unable to attend due to medical and security reasons. The
court accepted Khan's request for exemption from personal appearance and
extended the interim bail until February 10.
Some members of
the local leadership of PTI faced terrorism charges for alleged vandalism
during protests in Islamabad after Khan was disqualified by the Election
Commission of Pakistan in the Tosha-khana reference under Article 63(1)(p).
